India has officially submitted a bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, proposing Ahmedabad as the host city. This initiative is part of India’s broader ambition to stage the 2036 Summer Olympics.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President, PT Usha, sent a letter of intent to the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) President, Chris Jenkins, expressing India’s interest in hosting the 2030 Games. The formal bid submission deadline is March 31, 2025.

Ahmedabad has been selected as the proposed host city, aligning with India’s strategy to develop the necessary infrastructure for major international sporting events. The city is also a leading candidate for India’s 2036 Olympic bid.
India previously hosted the Commonwealth cricketteammatchscorecard Games in 2010 in New Delhi. Hosting the 2030 edition is viewed as a strategic step toward achieving the nation’s Olympic aspirations.
The CGF will evaluate India’s bid alongside other potential candidates, including a proposed “United Canada” bid. The final decision on the host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games is expected to be announced at the CGF General Assembly.
