Veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, passed away at the age of 83 due to age-related health complications. His funeral, held on March 14, 2025, at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu, Mumbai, saw the attendance of numerous Bollywood celebrities who came to pay their final respects.
Close friends of Ayan Mukerji, actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, interrupted their stay in Alibaug, where they were celebrating Alia’s birthday, to return to Mumbai upon hearing the news. They were seen arriving separately at Ayan’s residence to offer their condolences.
Actress Kajol, Deb Mukherjee’s niece, attended the funeral alongside her son, Yug. Filmmaker Karan Johar, a close associate of Ayan Mukerji, was also present to offer support during this difficult time.
